Geocaching

Last weekend we ventured out after the rain, and did a little exploring.  We decided to try our hand at geocaching..

(thanks Wikipedia for the defintion) Geocaching is an outdoor activity in which the participants use a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver or other navigational techniques to hide and seek containers (called "geocaches" or "caches") anywhere in the world. A typical cache is a small waterproof container (usually a tupperware or ammo box) containing a logbook. Larger containers can also contain items for trading, usually toys or trinkets of little value. Geocaching is most often described as a "game of high-tech hide and seek", sharing many aspects with orienteering, treasure-hunting, and waymarking.

Armed with a GPS, and our coordinates which we had found online, we began our hunt. We drove to a nearby spot, and then made our way on foot to our destination.  The ground was still wet from the rain, and everything was fresh and new.  It felt like spring, and the kids had a great time on and off the trail till we found our treasure.

I had so much fun taking pictures, and the kids loved running around in the fresh outdoors.  We could actually see our house from the trail, along with the ocean, and a beautiful rainbow peeked out for a few minutes. We can't wait to find more treasures, and see where it takes us.
